In the Limelight with Clarissa Burt interviews Greg Reid: Founder of the Secret Knock

Clarissa: Hey Greg! I’m checking in with you after all the huge success of the Wishman movie that premiered last month in Los Angeles at the legendary Egyptian Theatre. What a night! What a whirlwind! Weigh in for us.

Greg: I think it was seven, eight years ago, you Clarissa introduced me to a guy by the name of Frank Shankwitz, Founder of the Make a Wish Foundation, and I was interviewing him for a book I was writing called Stickability. I asked him, “Hey, what’s what was your wish, what would you asked for?” And he said, “No one ever asked me my wish”. He wanted his story to be told in a movie. We made it our journey to grant him his wish. Now it’s just taken off like wildfire, it’ going like a windstorm. So it’s pretty exciting. And you, Clarissa, are the catalyst to all that!

Clarissa: It makes me feel good to know that Frank’s story will live in perpetuity on film. It comes down to the power of networking, going to the events, meeting people and putting them together and watching them shine! Nothing like it in the world!

What did it feel like for you to see the movie on the big screen? I mean, I know some of the backstory and you guys had to go through the trenches! There were several years of movie making behind this project and there were moments when you thought it wasn’t going to happen. Talk about Stickability!

Greg: First there’s the challenge and then comes victory. Unfortunately, most people quit in the challenging times. It’s the people that persevere and go through the minutia that we tell the stories and make these movies about. It was interesting because, quite frankly, I was not emotionally attached to a lot of it because I don’t normally think about the movie industry. So, I didn’t take it the difficulties as a personal affront against me, I was just learning as I went along. Every single day, including today I’m learning something new about that space. We just got e-mail yesterday that we closed a deal with Wal-Mart for twenty five thousand units, initial order end cap. I mean, just great stuff.

Clarissa: Tell me about your experience with the movie in Cannes, the gold standard film festival for the movie industry.

Greg: Our distributor is Pureflex. They did two showings, and we also got on the cover of the Cannes magazine somehow. I have no idea how they pulled that off! We had all these people crying with standing ovations. Amazing! It looks like we have 14 different countries now that are submitting offers to participate worldwide. That’s enough about the movie.

Everything else is just rockin’ and rollin’ over here in San Diego, too. We just did Prosperity Camp. We had millionaires and billionaires come in to share their blueprint for wealth and achievement. It wasn’t about the warm fuzzy feel-good ‘what you eat for breakfast’ or the usual motivational stories, but actionable steps towards creating a life of sustained abundance. It was really cool! I learned some spectacular little nuggets that I’m going to start applying.

Clarissa: All right, so what’s next? You have another book? You have another movie? Secret Knock continues to be the number one Forbes rated networking event of all time.

Greg: Yeah, and the next thing is to have some downtime from work. I got two to three months where I finally cleared my schedule. I’m just about to take my kid to Hawaii and to relax a little bit. Today is literally my day off. The only reason I’m doing this interview is because you and I are family.

Clarissa: Before you go what’s your next project? Another book? Another movie?

Greg: The next project is with Sharon Lechter. We’ve got the follow up to Three Feet from Gold that was a huge success for us. It’s called “Success and Something Greater”. When Napolean Hill passed away this is what he was working on. We also have other unpublished works from Napoleon Hill that we are putting in there.

Clarissa: Awesome! So when is the next secret Knock? March 2020?

Greg: Yeah, March 2020 is going to be San Diego. We started to do things called Frequent Knocks where once a month we get together as networkers. Something else in the works right now that we’re going to call you about is SKW, which is going to be Secret Knock Women. ✧
